Chapter 1 - The Giant's Shadow

The grand marble corridor of the luxury American mansion was an intimidating display of cinematic wealth. Massive crystal chandeliers cast a brilliant, cold light across the pristine floors, reflecting the terrifying aura of the man walking down the center of the hall.

Dante was the apex predator of the city’s underworld. The heavily muscular mafia boss wore a dark, unbuttoned black shirt, exposing thick, intricate syndicate tattoos across his chest and neck. His face was a mask of cold, unyielding stone. He was returning from a brutal cartel meeting, and his heavy leather shoes echoed like gunshots in the silent estate.

But suddenly, a tiny, unexpected shadow broke his terrifying presence.

Marching right behind the towering mob boss was Sophia. The three-year-old daughter of the estate’s new maid was wearing a bright, ruffled pink dress. Completely devoid of the fear that paralyzed every adult in the mansion, Sophia was hilariously copying Dante’s stiff, intimidating walk, exaggerating her tiny steps to match his heavy stride.

Standing near the kitchen doorway, holding a stack of fresh towels, was Rosa. The young maid in the crisp black and white uniform watched her daughter marching behind the boss. All the color violently drained from Rosa's face.

"Sophia, stop!" Rosa whispered, her voice cracking with sheer, unadulterated terror.

She knew Dante’s reputation. He didn't tolerate children, he didn't tolerate mistakes, and he certainly didn't tolerate disrespect in his own home.
