Chapter 47 - the race against time

"Lock him in the secure basement holding cell," Dominic commanded his head of security, who had finally rushed up the stairs with tactical backup after hearing the commotion.
Dominic stood up, turning his fierce, focused gaze directly onto me. The clock on the wall read 10:15 PM. We had less than two hours before the automated floodgates at the municipal hydroelectric dam opened, unleashing a wall of water over the city.
"They've locked out the remote override codes," I analyzed rapidly, pulling my military tablet from my tactical harness and tapping the screen with blinding speed. "We can't shut it down digitally. We have to physically override the manual gears inside the dam's control room."
"Then we ride," Dominic stated firmly, grabbing his heavy black leather jacket. There was no hesitation, no fear—only the absolute, unyielding resolve of two warriors heading straight into the jaws of hell.
