Chapter 30 - the eternal sanctuary

Dante returned to the grand American mansion just as the golden sun began to rise over the brilliant, sweeping gardens. The brutal, silent war had been decisively won, and the heavy lockdown was finally lifted.
Elena was waiting for him on the wide marble patio, holding a steaming cup of coffee. She saw the absolute, profound peace in his dark eyes and knew the threat was permanently eradicated.
She walked forward, wrapping her arms tightly around his broad, sturdy shoulders. "It's over?" Elena whispered softly, resting her head against his chest.
"It's completely over, my queen," Dante vowed, kissing her forehead with deep, unyielding devotion.
Rosa walked out onto the patio, accompanied by the brilliant, eight-year-old Sophia. The little girl, wearing a vibrant yellow sundress, ran across the patio and threw herself into Dante’s massive legs.
