Chapter 10 - The Pink Dress

The chaotic, violent energy of the betrayal completely evaporated from the luxury mansion.

Dante walked directly to his private office and unlocked the door. Rosa was sitting on the leather sofa, clutching Sophia tightly. She looked up, absolutely terrified that the boss was coming to punish them for wandering into the forbidden wing.

Dante didn't look angry. The terrifying executioner was entirely gone.

He dropped to his knees right in front of the sofa, looking at the little girl in the pink dress.

"You are the bravest person I have ever met, Sophia," Dante whispered, his deep voice thick with profound, genuine respect.

He looked up at the exhausted, terrified mother. The power of his massive wealth radiated in his next words.

"Rosa, you are no longer a maid in this house," Dante vowed smoothly, his voice carrying absolute, unquestionable authority. "As of this exact second, you are the Head of Estate Operations. Your salary is quintupled, and you answer to absolutely no one but my wife and me."

Rosa gasped softly, covering her mouth as tears of pure, unadulterated joy filled her eyes.

"And Sophia," Dante smiled warmly, gently patting the little girl’s knee. "Your college education is completely paid for. Whatever you want to be, the syndicate will fund it. You will never have to be afraid in this house again."

Sophia smiled brightly, reaching out to hug Dante’s massive neck.

The nightmare was finally over. The traitor was ash, the beloved queen was restored to her throne, and the fearless little girl who saw past the monster had completely changed their destinies forever.

If you were Dante, would you have handed Marcus over to the police, or was burning him alive in his own warehouse the ultimate, perfect justice?
