Chapter 10 - The Quiet Dinner

The heavy, dramatic tension in the elegant restaurant completely evaporated, replaced by a warm, peaceful atmosphere.
Harper, still reeling from the life-changing promotion, immediately took charge of the floor. She personally ensured that Eleanor’s meal was cooked to absolute perfection, delivering it to the table with another warm, beautiful smile and a few more signed phrases that made the elderly woman's eyes light up with joy.
Silas sat across from his aunt, cutting into his steak.
He had spent his entire life building walls, using intimidation and violence to protect the people he loved. But as he watched Harper effortlessly communicate with Eleanor, making her laugh in absolute silence, Silas realized that true protection didn't always require a weapon.
Sometimes, it just required someone willing to speak the right language.
Eleanor looked across the table at her nephew. She raised her hands, signing a quick, teasing phrase. Silas didn't know sign language fluently, but he knew exactly what she meant. She was pointing at the beautiful waitress in the burgundy vest.

Silas chuckled, a genuine, warm smile finally touching his hardened features. For the first time in years, the ruthless enforcer felt completely at peace. The arrogant staff had been punished, the restaurant was in good hands, and his beloved aunt had finally found a place where she belonged.
If you were Silas, would you have given the manager a second chance after he apologized, or was firing him the only acceptable justice for insulting your family?
