Chapter 18 - the guardian deity

Right at the moment the blade was about to slice deep into Harper's throat, a deafening engine roar echoed as if tearing through eardrums. Silas's supercar sped straight down into the parking garage at terrifying speed, crashing through the automatic barrier and ramming into the hitmen's minivan.

Silas stepped out of the car. He wasn't wearing an outer jacket; his black dress shirt was unbuttoned, revealing the murderous tattoos billowing across his chest. His eyes were bloodshot, as brutal as a true demon of death descending from hell.

Without a single word, Silas charged at the hitman holding Harper with the speed of a panther. He used his bare hand to grab the sharp blade, disarming him in the blink of an eye, ignoring the blood pouring profusely from his own hand.

With a crushing punch, Silas knocked the hitman down on the spot. The sound of shattering bones echoed dryly. The other two tried to flee but were surrounded from all sides by Silas's special task force, leaving not a single gap to escape.
