Chapter 7 - The True Ownership

Silas slowly turned to face the General Manager. The cinematic tension was absolutely suffocating.
"You're going to throw me out?" Silas asked, his voice dropping back into that dark, demonic, vibrating growl.
"Yes," the manager replied, puffing out his chest, completely oblivious to the danger. "This restaurant is owned by the Vanguard Hospitality Group. We do not tolerate aggressive thugs harassing our staff."
Silas reached inside the pocket of his beige suit jacket. He didn't pull out a weapon. He pulled out a heavy, matte-black corporate executive card bearing the gold Vanguard crest. He casually tossed it onto the white tablecloth.
"I know exactly who owns this restaurant," Silas stated with cold, lethal authority. "Because the Vanguard Group is a front company for my syndicate. I own this building. I own the chairs you're standing near. And I own your payroll."
All the color violently drained from the General Manager's face. The pompous arrogance completely shattered into sheer, unadulterated terror. He stared at the black executive card, realizing he had just threatened to throw his ultimate boss out onto the street.
