Chapter 17 - the resilient girl

The hitmen had severely underestimated the woman protected by Silas. Over the past six months, the mafia boss didn't just give her luxurious gifts; he also secretly sent people to train her in close-combat self-defense skills in case of emergencies in this world full of danger.

The moment the first hitman lunged forward, Harper didn't step back. She quickly pulled out military-grade pepper spray from her purse, spraying it directly into his eyes. The hitman screamed in agony, clutching his face and dropping to the concrete floor.

Simultaneously, she used her studded handbag to strike the second man hard on the chin, making him stagger. She didn't try to knock them out completely, but used that precious time to turn and run toward the stairwell, where the security camera system was the densest.

But the third hitman, larger and more aggressive, caught up with her. He grabbed Harper's hair, throwing her to the parking garage floor. The razor-sharp blade pressed against her throat, carrying the cold breath of the grim reaper.
