Chapter 16 - the ghost of hatred

However, the life of a mafia boss never has room for eternal peace. Silas punishing the congressman's son had ignited a fierce underground war. His enemies began seeking retaliation, and their biggest target was the single weakness he had just exposed: Harper.

A rival underground organization named Red Snake, the sworn enemy of the Vanguard gang, dispatched their most professional hitmen to tail Harper. They knew that if they kidnapped her, Silas would be forced to surrender all his business territories at the docks.

One night, when Harper got off work late, she walked down to the building's quiet underground parking garage. The flickering fluorescent lights created an eerily gloomy atmosphere. The intuition of a sharp woman warned her something was wrong.

Behind her, heavy footsteps echoed. Not one, but three men wearing black hooded jackets were approaching with gleaming daggers in their hands.

"Come along nicely, sweetheart. Your boss is waiting," one of them smirked with a sneer.
