Chapter 6 - The Manager's Mistake

Harper turned to Silas, her dark eyes entirely calm. "My younger brother is deaf, sir. I know how isolating a busy room can feel."

Before Silas could even formulate a response to her profound kindness, the heavy sound of footsteps approached from the main dining floor.

The arrogant waiter from earlier had returned, but this time, he wasn't alone. He had brought the restaurant’s General Manager, a stiff, pompous man in an expensive grey suit.

"That's him, Mr. Vance," the arrogant waiter pointed directly at Silas, a smug, vindictive sneer on his face. "He aggressively threatened me. I want him and the old woman thrown out."

Harper immediately stepped forward, trying to intervene. "Mr. Vance, wait, that isn't what happened—"

"Quiet, Harper," the General Manager snapped dismissively, not even looking at the waitress. He turned his arrogant gaze toward Silas. "Sir, we have a strict code of conduct in this establishment. I am going to have to ask you and your guest to leave immediately, or I will call the police."
