Chapter 4 - The Silent Language

With fluid, practiced grace, Harper began to use sign language, her hands moving beautifully through the air while she spoke the words softly aloud.
"Hello. My name is Harper," the young waitress signed, her facial micro-expressions radiating pure warmth and patience. "I will be taking care of you tonight. It is very nice to meet you."
A tight, cinematic close-up captured Eleanor’s face.
The older woman slowly looked up from the white tablecloth. The deep, agonizing sadness and humiliation that had clouded her eyes just moments ago completely vanished. Thick, heavy tears of pure relief immediately welled up in her eyes.
For the first time all evening, Eleanor didn't feel like a burden. She didn't feel isolated in a silent world. She felt entirely seen.
Her wrinkled face transformed from deep, painful embarrassment into a beautiful, breathtakingly emotional smile. The cinematic realism of her profound relief was palpable.
