Chapter 10 - The Devastating Truth

Daisy wasn't crying anymore. The three-year-old sat tall in her mother's protective embrace. When the scary man in the black tuxedo looked down at her, she didn't look away.

Instead, Daisy pointed her tiny, frosting-covered finger one last time, straight at the pale, trembling bride.

"She told me to touch the cake first," Daisy said, her innocent voice ringing with absolute, unshakeable firmness.

The final puzzle piece slammed violently into place. The whispers in the room erupted into quiet gasps. Celeste hadn't just pushed the cake; she had deliberately lured a toddler over to the table to act as her perfect, helpless scapegoat. She had ruined the cake herself—likely because she hated the design or simply craved the dramatic center of attention—and ruthlessly planned to destroy a poor maid’s life just to cover her tracks.

Caleb’s jaw clenched. A terrifying, lethal darkness washed completely over his eyes. He slowly turned back to Celeste.

"Caleb, please—" Celeste sobbed, reaching out again.

"Don't touch me," Caleb growled, his voice vibrating with pure, unleashed authority. He looked at the two massive security guards who were still standing frozen nearby. "Get her out of my sight. She leaves with nothing but the dress she’s wearing. If she ever steps foot on my property again, handle it."

"No! Caleb, please! I love you!" Celeste shrieked as the guards grabbed her arms, lifting her completely off the floor. She kicked and thrashed, her expensive ivory gown dragging through the ruined cake as they violently dragged her toward the heavy mahogany doors, her screams fading into the night.

Caleb took a deep breath, smoothing his tuxedo jacket. He turned away from the empty doorway and walked slowly over to Marisol and Daisy. He knelt down, his expensive pants pressing directly into the frosting, completely uncaring. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a pristine white silk handkerchief, and gently wiped the frosting from Daisy’s cheek.

"No one is throwing you out," Caleb said quietly, his cold eyes finally softening with a genuine, quiet respect as he looked at the fiercely protective mother. "Your daughter is incredibly brave. The wedding is canceled, but you will be paid triple for the evening, and my driver will ensure you both get home safely."

If you were Caleb, would you have publicly humiliated Celeste further, or was stripping her of everything the perfect revenge?
