Chapter 7 - The Bride's Panic

The transformation of Celeste Vale was instantaneous and pathetic.
The color drained entirely from her face, leaving her perfectly powdered skin looking sickly and pale beneath the bright chandeliers. Her arrogant, dominant posture completely collapsed. Her mouth opened and closed silently for a few seconds, like a fish pulled out of water, desperately searching for words that could somehow save her from the sudden, catastrophic shift in the room's energy.
"That's... that's a lie!" Celeste stammered, her voice suddenly shrill, lacking all the commanding authority it possessed just a minute ago.
She took a panicked, uncoordinated step backward, her expensive high heel slipping slightly in a puddle of buttercream frosting. She pointed a violently shaking finger back at the toddler.
"She is a liar! A filthy, little liar!" Celeste shrieked, the panic in her chest rising into an uncontrolled frenzy. "Are you all insane? Are you going to believe a servant's brat over me?! I am Celeste Vale! I am the bride!"
She spun around frantically, looking wildly at the faces of the wealthy guests, desperately seeking a single ally. But the crowd was dead silent, staring back at her with a mixture of profound disgust and sudden realization. Her mask had slipped completely, revealing the ugly, unhinged reality beneath the expensive silk gown.
"Throw them out!" Celeste screamed again at the security guards, her voice cracking under the immense pressure of her own lies. "I gave you an order! Throw this lying trash out of my house right now!"
