Chapter 6 - The Finger Pointed

The heavy, suffocating silence in the room stretched so tight it felt like a physical wire ready to snap. Every single eye in the luxury ballroom, from the wealthiest socialites to the catering staff peeking out from the kitchen doors, was locked onto the tiny girl in the pink dress.

Slowly, deliberately, Daisy raised her small, trembling arm. She extended her tiny index finger, pointing it directly across the ruins of the cake, straight at the center of Celeste's chest.

When Daisy finally spoke, her voice wasn't the broken, terrified whimper of a child. It was shockingly clear, steady, and cut through the absolute silence of the room like a perfectly thrown knife.

"No, Mama," Daisy said, her sweet, high-pitched voice carrying to every corner of the massive ballroom. "She pushed it."

A collective, audible gasp ripped through the crowd of elite guests.

The words hung in the air, echoing off the crystal chandeliers. Marisol’s eyes widened in absolute shock, her jaw dropping as she stared at her daughter. She quickly looked at the towering wreckage of the six-tier cake. It was massive. It weighed well over two hundred pounds and sat on a heavy, solid oak display table.

Suddenly, the physics of the disaster hit the entire room at once. A three-year-old child, who barely weighed thirty pounds, could not possibly have generated enough force to topple a two-hundred-pound wedding cake.

It was mathematically impossible.

The whispers among the guests instantly shifted. The disdainful looks that had been directed at the maid were suddenly, aggressively redirected at the bride. The elite crowd began murmuring, looking at the skid marks on the heavy oak table, realizing that someone with adult strength had to have violently shoved the top tiers to make the entire structure collapse.

👉 The crowd realized the truth, but the bride’s reaction was about to prove exactly how guilty she was.
