Chapter 32 - the silent outbreak

Dante immediately locked down the quarantine ward. He didn't alert the public or the media; he knew that inciting panic was exactly what a bio-terrorist would want. He needed to understand the vector of transmission before the invisible killer spread further.
He called his father, Alessandro, who was attending a global health summit in Geneva. When Alessandro heard the specific neurotoxic molecular signature, the seasoned chairman went absolutely silent on the encrypted line.
"Dad, someone is using the Corvi poison," Dante said urgently. "But it's airborne now. They've engineered it to bypass basic respiratory filters. If this hits the city's subway system, thousands will die within hours."
"Secure the hospital, Dante," Alessandro ordered, his voice dropping into the cold, terrifying register he used when he ruled the underworld. "I am grounding my jet and returning immediately. Do not trust any federal agencies yet."
