Chapter 33 - the obsidian circle
The enemy was not a traditional mafia syndicate. It was a clandestine, highly elitist cabal known as the Obsidian Circle. Formed by disgraced pharmaceutical billionaires and exiled political elites, they operated above governments.
They despised the Moretti Medical Foundation for continuously providing free, open-source cures to the world. The Morettis had permanently disrupted the trillion-dollar global sickness economy, and the Obsidian Circle wanted their monopoly back.
Their plan was brutally simple and completely devastating: unleash the weaponized neurotoxin in major metropolitan areas, wait for the global death toll to skyrocket, and then sell the exclusive, patented antidote for astronomical, extortionate prices.
To execute this, they had purchased the original, deadly synthetic formula from the remnants of the old Corvi network and spent a decade enhancing it in hidden, offshore black-site laboratories.
