Chapter 34 - the race against time

Alessandro’s private jet touched down in Boston under the cover of absolute darkness. He bypassed his corporate headquarters and drove directly to the secure, underground laboratory where Dante was frantically synthesizing a counter-agent.
Elena, despite her advanced age, refused to stay behind at the countryside estate. The brilliant former estate manager stood beside her son, her sharp eyes scanning the complex chemical algorithms scrolling across the massive digital monitors.
"The synthetic compound binds to the nervous system in exactly six hours," Elena analyzed, her voice completely steady and authoritative. "We have to reverse-engineer the original treatment protocol used on your grandfather, but on a massive, aerosolized scale."
"We can't manufacture enough counter-agent in time if they hit the city water supply or the transit vents," Dante said, his hands moving with blinding speed across the keyboards. "We need to find their primary distribution hub."
