Chapter 36 - the dockside siege

Alessandro didn't wait for federal authorities, knowing the Obsidian Circle likely had moles inside the government. He mobilized the Moretti Foundation's private, elite security forces—highly trained operatives who operated with devastating, surgical precision.
They arrived at Pier forty-two just as the heavily armed mercenaries were loading the massive, neurotoxic ventilation canisters onto a fleet of unmarked transport trucks. The cold, salty sea breeze was thick with fatal tension.
"No lethal shots unless absolutely necessary," Alessandro ordered his squad over the encrypted comms. "We need to secure those canisters completely intact. If one ruptures, the entire dockyard is dead."
Alessandro’s forces struck with absolute, blinding speed. They deployed targeted EMP grenades, instantly disabling the transport trucks. The mercenaries, completely caught off guard by the silent, perfectly coordinated ambush, scrambled frantically for their weapons.
