Chapter 132 - the digital hostage

Sophie was reviewing quarterly reports in her executive penthouse when the impenetrable darkness completely swallowed the skyscraper. The backup generators failed to engage, indicating a highly coordinated external override.
The heavy titanium doors of the executive suite automatically slammed shut, locking her safely inside. The massive digital monitors on the walls flickered to life, bathing the entire room in a harsh, terrifying crimson glow.
Victor appeared on the screens, a toxic, arrogant smirk plastered across his pale face. "Good evening, Sophie," the oligarch mocked smoothly. "I have taken full control of this building's automated ventilation and security grids."
"Transfer the full proprietary rights of your foundation to my holding company within sixty minutes," Victor demanded coldly, "or the oxygen scrubbers on your floor will be permanently disabled."
