Chapter 6 - The Apex Predator

The cinematic tension on the sidewalk completely shifted.
Damien didn't pull a weapon to shoot the doctor. A quick bullet in public was far too generous for the monster who had poisoned his wife.
He looked down at little Ruby. The five-year-old girl was clutching her stuffed rabbit, entirely confused but remarkably brave. Damien dropped to his knees right on the concrete. He gently, reverently pulled the little girl in the red dress into his arms, completely ignoring the dirt on her clothes. He pulled Sophie in with his other arm, holding both of his identical daughters fiercely against his chest.
Tears of pure, raw agony and profound relief spilled from the mafia boss's eyes. His family was finally, permanently whole.
But the executioner was awake.
Damien looked up at his massive guards.
"Put my daughters in the armored car," Damien commanded coldly. "Take them to the secure penthouse. Do not let anyone inside."
The guards nodded, gently escorting the two little girls into the luxury vehicle.
Damien turned his terrifying gaze back to Dr. Hayes, who was shivering on the concrete.
"You kept her alive," Damien whispered softly. "That is the only reason I am not going to break your neck right now. But you are going to help me destroy the man who paid you."
"I'll do anything!" Dr. Hayes sobbed desperately. "Please, just don't kill me!"
Damien pulled his encrypted phone from his brown suit.

"Call Silas," Damien ordered, completely stripped of humanity. "Tell him the girl is alive, and you need five million dollars tonight to keep quiet, or you're going to the press."
👉 The doctor made the fatal phone call, and the traitorous brother walked directly into his own brutal execution.
