Chapter 20 - the silent wrath

The screen went black, plunging the luxurious office into a suffocating, deathly silence. The deadliest trap had just been set by the corrupt prosecutor.

Adrian didn't yell or smash the expensive glass table. The restrained silence radiating from his broad shoulders was absolutely terrifying. He walked over to his hidden biometric safe and pulled out a matte-black tactical sidearm.

Sophie didn't call the federal authorities. She knew exactly how the underworld worked. Bureaucracy would get Mrs. Ellis killed. She immediately pulled out her encrypted military-grade tablet and connected to the deep intelligence network.

"He is using a scrambled signal," Sophie reported, her fingers flying across the glowing screen with blinding speed. "But Marcus is arrogant. He routed the video feed through a proxy server to mock us. I just bypassed their firewall."
