Miles away in his luxury penthouse, Adrian was reviewing foundation ledgers when his encrypted emergency pager suddenly vibrated. It was a secure, offline distress signal tied to Sophie’s smartwatch, indicating a breach.
Adrian completely froze. The tired, gentle corporate executive vanished in a fraction of a second. The chilling, calculating, apex predator of the underworld violently and entirely resurrected.
He didn't call the local police. Bureaucracy would get his loyal director killed. He walked to his private study and opened a heavy, hidden steel biometric safe. He pulled out a matte-black tactical sidearm, a customized combat knife, and advanced thermal optics.
Suddenly, his head of security, Enzo, stepped inside holding a secure satellite radio. "The local police are locked out. It's a heavily armed European hit squad, Boss. They're specifically looking for Sophie."
