Chapter 4 - The Secret Embezzlement

"Mr. Voss! I didn't know!" Victoria shrieked hysterically, completely abandoning her authoritative persona. She dropped to her knees in her sharp red suit. "I swear to God, if I knew she was a friend of yours, I would have given her the entire restaurant! Please forgive me!"
Adrian slowly stood up. He didn't look at her.
"You didn't demand her wedding ring to protect the restaurant, Victoria," Adrian stated coldly. "You demanded it because you enjoy watching desperate people bleed."
Adrian pulled his encrypted smartphone from his black suit jacket.
"While you were busy screaming at this waitress," Adrian continued smoothly, dialing a number, "I was reviewing the financial ledgers for this restaurant. You didn't know I own this building, did you?"
Victoria’s eyes widened in sheer, unadulterated horror.
"I bought the Linden Room three weeks ago," Adrian explained, ensuring the wealthy diners heard every syllable. "And my accountants noticed that twenty thousand dollars goes missing from the staff tip pool every single month. You’ve been embezzling from your own waitresses to fund your luxury lifestyle."
"No! That's a lie!" Victoria screamed, pointing frantically at Sophie. "The servers steal it! They're thieves!"
"My cyber-team traced the routing numbers to your personal offshore account," Adrian replied ruthlessly.
Victoria let out a high-pitched, guttural wail of pure agony. She was completely, undeniably trapped.
