Chapter 24 - the final strike

Sophie moved with blinding, supernatural speed. She didn't hesitate or tremble. She remembered the sheer bravery Mrs. Ellis had shown her years ago over a twelve-dollar soup. Sophie raised her weapon and fired a single, perfectly calculated shot.

The bullet shattered the heavy pistol right out of Marcus's hand, sending metal shards flying across the room. Marcus let out a high-pitched wail of pure agony, clutching his violently bleeding hand as he stumbled backward.

That single microsecond was all Adrian needed. The apex predator exploded into motion. He closed the distance instantly, neutralizing the prosecutor with a brutal, bone-crushing strike to the ribs that drove Marcus violently to the cold concrete floor.

Adrian shielded the trembling Mrs. Ellis with his own massive body, ensuring she was completely unharmed.
