Chapter 11 - a peaceful home

After the terrifying event in the alley, the police arrested Carlos's entire gang. The hitmen's confessions, combined with the evidence Vance had gathered, threw the kingpin into prison forever.

A few months passed, and life gradually returned to its normal orbit. Sarah decided to move to a quiet small town in the suburbs so little Abby could have a safer and better living environment.

She didn't go alone. Vance, the man who once bore the label of a criminal, had now become an indispensable part of her small family. He worked at a local auto repair shop.

On a warm weekend afternoon, Vance was toiling away fixing the wooden fence in the front yard. Sweat soaked his t-shirt, revealing the maze of tattoos, but now they were no longer frightening.

Little Abby came running out of the house, holding a glass of ice-cold lemonade. She stood on her tiptoes, handing the glass to Vance with a radiant smile just like an angel. "Drink some water, Uncle Vance!"
