Chapter 27 - the day of return

The dawn broke, dispelling the bloody night. Vance returned to the safe house, his body covered in new wounds, but his heart was filled with an unprecedented serenity. The threat had been pulled up by the roots.

When he walked down into the bunker, Sarah and Abby had stayed up all night waiting. Seeing him safe, the mother and daughter rushed over to hug him tightly, tears of happiness streaming down. Vance's sturdy arms wrapped completely around them.

"It's all over, Sarah. No one will ever bother us again," Vance whispered, gently kissing his wife's forehead. Abby clung tightly to her father's heavily tattooed arm, her eyes sparkling with immense pride and boundless gratitude.

A few weeks later, they decided to buy a new house in a distant state, where no one knew of their past. It was a sprawling farm with lush green pastures and a tranquil, incredibly picturesque lake.

Vance resumed his auto repair work, while Sarah opened a small bakery. The simple, warm life filled with joyful laughter replaced the days of running in fear. True happiness had finally smiled upon them.
