Chapter 28 - the resilient girl

Six years passed, bringing the most wonderful things. The little girl Abby, who had once drawn a heart on Vance's cheek, was now an exceptionally outstanding college student, majoring in Criminal Justice.

Her stepfather's bravery and spirit to protect righteousness had intensely inspired her. Abby wanted to use knowledge and the law to protect innocent people, children who had been victims of violence and injustice.

On graduation day, Abby stood on the podium of honor with a radiant smile. She directed her gaze toward the stands, where Sarah and Vance were sitting. Vance wore an elegant suit, covering his tattoos but unable to hide his pride.

"I dedicate this degree to my wonderful father," Abby stated with deep emotion. "The man who didn't give birth to me, but was ready to sacrifice his very life to protect and raise me to become who I am today."

The entire hall erupted in thunderous applause. Vance stealthily wiped away a tear of happiness. The man once outcast by society, once labeled a criminal, had now become a symbol of great love.
