Chapter 29 - the radiant sunset
Returning to the farm after the graduation ceremony, the extended family gathered for an outdoor barbecue. Vance's friends and old teammates also came to celebrate. The atmosphere was overflowing with warmth and joyful laughter.
Sunset fell, dyeing the entire peaceful sky red. Sarah and Vance strolled along the tranquil lake shore. Holding his gentle wife's hand, Vance felt that his life had been rewarded in the most complete and deserving way.
"I have never regretted choosing to trust you," Sarah rested her head on her husband's sturdy shoulder, whispering sweet words of love. "You are the most wonderful gift this life has ever given me and my child."
Vance smiled, his kind smile blurring the long scar on his cheek. That scar was once proof of violence, but thanks to Abby's red heart, it had become an immortal symbol of protection and sacred family bonds.
"Protecting this family is the only reason I exist in this world," Vance replied softly, wrapping his arms tightly around his wife. The pains of the past had been completely washed away by unconditional love.
