Chapter 21 - the chilling confession

The hitman trembled beneath Vance's cold blade. His professionalism was completely crushed by the terrifying pressure from this heavily tattooed man. He panted heavily, struggling to force out every single word.

"El Muerte... The boss... sent us," the hitman whispered weakly, blood oozing from the shallow cut on his neck. "Greg was just the scout. There are dozens more surrounding this entire town. You can't escape."

Hearing the name El Muerte, Vance's pupils constricted. That was the most dangerous demon he had ever faced. Vance coldly knocked the hitman unconscious, then quickly dashed into the bedroom where Sarah and Abby were hiding.

"We have to leave here right now," Vance said, his voice urgent but incredibly steady. "The cartel found us. Put your coats on; I have a car ready in the secret basement."

Sarah didn't cry. She had absolute trust in her husband. She quickly helped Abby put on a warm coat. Even though the teenage girl was terrified, she obediently followed her stepfather's instructions without a moment of hesitation.
