Chapter 20 - the battle inside the house
The first hitman stepped into the kitchen, a weapon equipped with a silencer poised in his hands. But before he could get his bearings, a hand as solid as steel swung out from a dark corner, neatly disarming him.
Vance delivered a fatal kick to the throat, causing the hitman to collapse before he could let out a cry for help. The remaining two heard a slight noise and immediately pointed their guns toward the pitch-black hallway.
They fired wildly into the darkness, shattering decorative vases. Vance rolled across the wooden floor, took cover behind the refrigerator, and returned fire with absolute precision. Another man fell with a bullet wound between his eyes.
The deafening gunshots startled Sarah and Abby awake. They huddled together in panic inside the bedroom, exactly as Vance had instructed them beforehand. The last hitman realized the disadvantageous situation and tried to flee outside.
But Vance lunged forward with terrifying speed, slamming him down onto the floor. A razor-sharp military knife was pressed tightly against the intruder's neck. The murderous intent radiating from the father protecting his family was incredibly ruthless.
