Chapter 23 - the ring of fire and bullets

The black SUVs closed in on Vance's pickup truck, unleashing a merciless barrage of automatic gunfire. The bulletproof glass developed a series of spiderweb cracks. The sound of bullets striking the vehicle's body created horrifying noises.
"Get down!" Vance yelled loudly, simultaneously slamming hard on the gas pedal. He masterfully zigzagged the steering wheel to dodge the incoming fire. He knew the mountain road ahead had an incredibly dangerous death curve.
Taking advantage of the moment an SUV tried to overtake and ram them, Vance suddenly slammed on the brakes. The hitmen's car shot past, lost its momentum, and crashed hard into the guardrail, flipping down into the abyss and bursting into fierce flames immediately.
However, two more were still pursuing relentlessly. Vance handed a gun to Sarah. Although she had never fired a weapon in real combat, to protect her daughter, maternal instinct transformed her into a resilient warrior.
Sarah rolled down the window, aimed straight at the pursuers' tires, and fired. A loud explosion rang out; the second SUV lost control and crashed heavily into the rocky cliff face. The hitmen had paid a heavy price for their arrogance.
