Chapter 13 - the warning

That evening, Damon was fixing the water pipes under the kitchen sink. Evan was doing homework at the dining table; the family atmosphere was gradually returning to its usual peace.
The doorbell suddenly rang, breaking the silence. Damon wiped his hands on an old towel and walked out to open the front door. Standing outside was a man in his sixties wearing a Marine Corps cap.
It was the Marine veteran who had witnessed the entire incident at the gym. The old man's gaze was stern, looking straight into Damon's eyes with deep understanding and absolute respect.
"I know who you are," the old man spoke in a hoarse, deep voice. "The moves you used today do not belong to the civilian world. They belong to the invisible ghosts on the most top-secret battlefields."
Damon did not deny the truth. The old man handed him a small piece of paper: "That champion called the Rattlesnake gang. They are frantically hunting for you and your son right now."
