Chapter 24 - an old encounter

Before advancing into the enemy's lair, Damon knew he needed accurate intelligence. He drove to an abandoned auto repair shop on the outskirts. This was the hideout of Miller, the Marine veteran from years ago, the only person who knew his true identity.

Miller was cleaning an old rifle. Upon seeing Damon in the pitch-black combat suit, the old man froze slightly. The deadly pressure radiating from the former operative made the air in the shop become incredibly suffocating and extremely tense.

"They took my son," Damon spoke in an even tone, but every uttered word carried the weight of a thousand-year-old glacier. "I need a map of the harbor area and the identity of the gang controlling that place. Right now. Don't ask any questions."

Miller immediately put the gun down, nodding in understanding. He walked over to an armored computer, quickly accessing the underground intelligence network. In just a few minutes, the entire dossier on Viktor and the arms smuggling syndicate clearly appeared on the glowing screen.

"They are holding the boy at the old chemical plant," Miller said, his deep voice full of concern. "They have over forty heavily armed gunmen. Are you planning to go alone?"

Damon turned his back coldly. "Those forty men are the ones who should be worried."
