Chapter 28 - the choice
Viktor took advantage of the moment Damon was helping Evan up to draw a small dagger hidden in his boot, intending to sneak attack from behind. But Evan's sharp eyes caught it. Even though his body was in agonizing pain, the mettle of a police officer instantly exploded with incredible strength.
Evan pushed his father's arm aside, lunging forward to execute a beautiful shoulder lock learned from those very martial arts exercises of the past. He twisted Viktor's arm backward, pinning him flat on the floor neatly. The steel figure-eight handcuffs were snapped onto the criminal's wrists immediately.
"You are under arrest for arms smuggling and kidnapping a law enforcement officer," Evan said loudly and clearly, his tone sharp and full of the law's authority. He did not deliver a fatal blow, even though he had plenty of opportunity to exact revenge for the wounds on his body.
Damon stood quietly watching his son, a rare smile of fulfillment blooming on the former operative's lips. Evan had not let hatred cloud his judgment. The skinny boy who was bullied years ago had now become a true protector of justice, knowing how to control absolute power.

At this moment, police sirens wailed loudly from afar. Backup forces had arrived to surround the entire chemical plant. Viktor's henchmen, already broken by fear, quickly surrendered unconditionally. The battle for survival had ended in glorious victory.
