Chapter 6 - The Ghost's Dodge

Blake didn't intend to lightly spar with the older man. He fully intended to end the confrontation in three seconds with maximum, brutal violence, proving his absolute, unquestioned dominance to the stunned spectators.
Blake exploded forward across the blue mat with terrifying, explosive athletic speed. Utilizing his full weight and championship momentum, he threw a devastatingly powerful, technically flawless straight right hand, aiming his knuckles directly toward the center of Damon’s face.
The strike was fast enough to knock out any civilian in the room.
But Damon did not flinch.
He did not raise his hands to block. He didn't desperately jump backward. He remained perfectly, impossibly rooted to the blue mat, his dark eyes tracking the incoming fist with the terrifying, cold, and calculated precision of a supercomputer analyzing a threat.
At the absolute, final, last possible microsecond before bone-crushing impact, Damon calmly tilted his head a fraction of an inch to the side.
Blake’s devastating, full-power fist sailed entirely harmlessly through the empty air, missing Damon’s jaw by less than a single inch.
Because he had missed a completely stationary target with maximum power, Blake’s massive forward momentum carried his entire muscular body awkwardly and violently forward. His flawless championship stance was completely, fatally broken. His eyes widened in absolute, sheer, unadulterated shock as he realized his opponent hadn't just dodged; he had expertly manipulated the strike.
With the champion completely overextended, Damon finally moved.
