Chapter 37 - fifteen years of grievance

Silas backed into the central control room, locking the door tightly. Trembling, he loaded his handgun, sweat drenching his forehead. His entire elite mercenary team had been wiped clean in a mere ten minutes.

The fortified steel door was suddenly breached with a directional explosive charge. Thick smoke and dust flew across the room. Damon stepped in from the smoke, his deep black eyes burning with the flame of hatred. The traitor from years ago was now standing right in front of him.

"You are still a terrifying monster like you were back then, Damon," Silas laughed maniacally, pointing his gun at his former teammate. "Fifteen years ago you abandoned me. Tonight, I will return all that agony to you and your son."

Damon did not flinch, taking slow, measured steps forward. "You sold out your teammates for money, Silas. Jonathan's death was caused by your greed. You do not deserve to live to utter that sacred name."
