Chapter 19 - the proud return

Three months later, the European vacation ended. Evelyn returned to her hometown, carrying a healthy tan and an incredibly confident, radiant demeanor. She had completely transformed from the inside out.

At the airport, no one was there to pick her up, but Evelyn didn't care. She hailed a luxury taxi, instructing the driver to take her straight to a famous law firm in the city center. She had one last thing she needed to do.

Sitting in front of the calm lawyer, Evelyn took a legal file from her handbag. "I want to set up a new trust fund," Evelyn said clearly and decisively. "All my assets and savings will be donated."

The lawyer was surprised. "You don't want to leave any portion for your son, David, Mrs. Evelyn?"

"Not a single penny," Evelyn smiled, a gentle but incredibly unwavering smile. "I will sponsor all this money to organizations that protect lonely elderly women. My son has to learn how to stand on his own two feet."
