Chapter 24 - the final decision
Returning to his apartment, David immediately called Chloe. "I refuse," he said briefly, his tone incredibly resolute and cold. "I will never betray my mother ever again. You two should give up on that filthy idea."
On the other end of the line, Chloe screamed maniacally, hurling terrible curses. "You useless loser! Do you want to be a starving failure your whole life? Fine, if you won't do it, my mother and I will find our own way to prove that old hag is crazy! We don't need you!"
Stupidity and greed had blinded Chloe. She and Sherry decided to forge a series of medical documents, bribing a corrupt psychiatrist to certify that Evelyn had shown signs of dementia for years before establishing the charity fund.
With the forged documents in hand, the shady lawyer confidently filed a petition with the court, requesting to freeze all assets of the trust fund and summoning Evelyn to a mandatory mediation session before the case was officially brought to public trial.
