Chapter 26 - the brazen meeting
A few days later, in the city court's mediation room, the atmosphere became stifling. Sherry and Chloe walked into the room looking incredibly smug, wearing rented designer clothes to create a fake facade of high-society luxury.
Following them was the shady lawyer, clutching a stack of forged medical records. They intended to use psychological warfare to force Evelyn to concede and split a portion of the assets, hoping to settle everything smoothly out of court to avoid unnecessary scandals.
The door opened. Evelyn walked in, proud and elegant in an ash-gray suit. Walking beside her were two top-tier lawyers in black suits, exuding a professional demeanor that completely overpowered the hack lawyer of Sherry's mother-daughter duo.
"Long time no see, Evelyn. You look quite gaunt. We are only doing this for your own good," Sherry spoke up, flashing a sickeningly hypocritical smile, trying to play the role of an old friend full of compassion and altruism.
