Chapter 15 - a new beginning
A few days after the horrific night, warm sunlight shone through the glass windows of a beautiful commercial space in downtown Manhattan. This place used to be a fashion boutique; now it belonged to Maya.
The once-poor waitress was standing in a daze in the middle of the spacious room. Tony, her former restaurant boss, smiled and handed her a shiny set of keys. Billionaire Dante Russo had kept his promise.
"This is your bakery, Maya," Tony said gently. "All design, construction, and material costs have been paid in advance for five years. You don't have to worry about absolutely anything anymore."
Maya covered her mouth, tears of happiness welling up. The days of exhausting work, starving and depriving herself to save every penny, had officially ended. Her kindness in the dark alley had brought a brilliant miracle.
Outside the glass door, two men in black suits stood strict guard. The Russo family didn't just gift her a business; they provided absolute protection to ensure no one dared harass their benefactor.
