Chapter 7 - The Child's Accusation

Sophia's tiny finger remained perfectly steady, pointing directly at Marco's chest.
"He's the bad man from the dark alley," Sophia whispered, her enormous crystal-blue eyes filling with fresh, terrified tears. "He took Mommy."
A collective gasp ripped through the restaurant. Tony Martinelli dropped a crystal glass by the kitchen doors; it shattered against the marble, but no one moved.
Dante slowly stood up to his full 6'3" height. The helpless father vanished entirely. The terrifying, absolutely ruthless mafia billionaire returned. His sculpted jaw locked into stone, and his pale-gray eyes darkened into a lethal storm. He stared at Marco.
Marco stumbled backward, his charcoal-gray suit suddenly feeling like a straightjacket. "Mr. Russo! I... she’s a child! She's confused! I have never seen your wife!"
But Maya’s enormous watery hazel eyes widened in absolute shock. The puzzle pieces violently slammed together in her mind.
"Oh my god," Maya breathed, her hand tightly squeezing Sophia's. She looked at Marco, the cruel manager who had humiliated her and forced her to work double shifts. "It was you."
Dante's head snapped toward the waitress. "What do you know?" he demanded, his voice desperate and heavy.

Maya’s breath hitched. "Three nights ago... I was walking home in the rain from my bakery shift. I took the alley behind the restaurant."
👉 Maya was about to reveal the massive secret she had been carrying, and Marco's life was officially over.
