Chapter 19 - an old ghost
In the midst of the joyful charity party, a security guard stepped up and whispered into Dante's ear. The billionaire's expression instantly changed. He gave a slight nod, signaling the bodyguard detail to tighten the security perimeter.
Dante approached Maya, pulling her into a quiet, secluded corner. "We just got a report from the federal prison," his voice dropped, full of tension. "Marco escaped during a riot early this morning."
Maya's heart suddenly skipped a beat. Images of the cruel manager who once humiliated her and was about to shoot little Sophia in the alley flooded back. He was a cornered beast, incredibly crazed and bloodthirsty.
"He will definitely seek revenge," Dante asserted, his knife-sharp gaze scanning the surroundings. "His target could be me, or you. From this moment on, I will double the number of bodyguards protecting you."
Maya took a deep breath to regain her composure. She was no longer the weak waitress of the past. "I am not afraid of him," Maya replied, her tone firm and steady. "Evil cannot defeat us."

Just then, a black cargo truck unexpectedly plowed straight through the garden's security fence, smashing the iron gates. Chaos began to envelop the party. The dark ghost had truly returned for revenge.
