Chapter 24 - shadows in the office

Dante stepped out from the shadows of the heavy velvet curtains, the amber city lights casting a dramatic, lethal silhouette over his massive muscular frame. He didn't carry a gun; he didn't need one. His sheer presence was fatal.

Councilman Vance fell backward out of his leather chair, scrambling clumsily across the expensive Persian rug until his back slammed hard against the wooden bookshelf. "You... you can't touch me! I'm a public official!" he shrieked.

Dante slowly approached the trembling politician, his polished black shoes clicking rhythmically against the floor. He crouched down slightly, bringing his devastatingly handsome face inches away from the terrified councilman's sweat-drenched forehead.

"Public officials serve the people," Dante whispered, his voice dangerously low, dripping with cinematic realism. "You terrorized my five-year-old daughter and threatened the woman who saved her life. You are nothing."

Vance’s chest heaved frantically. "Name your price! Money? Real estate? I can give you anything you want!" He desperately offered, completely blind to the fact that absolute wealth meant nothing compared to family.
