Chapter 33 - the mafia summit

Dante did not wait for the enemy to strike again. He immediately called for an emergency summit with the remaining heads of the New York crime families. The meeting took place in a shadowy, heavily guarded warehouse near the docks.
Silvio Moretti arrived with an arrogant, condescending smirk, flanked by dozens of heavily armed mercenaries. He believed he had the ultimate leverage over the Russo family by targeting their philanthropic operations.
"Times have changed, Dante," Silvio sneered, lighting a thick cigar. "You went soft. You trade in cupcakes and charity now. Hand over the shipping ports, and I'll let your little baker friend live in peace."
Dante remained perfectly still, radiating a terrifying, apex-predator energy. He didn't raise his voice. He simply stared at the arrogant Chicago boss with piercing pale-gray eyes completely devoid of any mercy.
"You misunderstood my silence for weakness," Dante whispered, his voice vibrating with cinematic realism. "I didn't go soft, Silvio. I just found something worth protecting. And you just threatened her."
