Chapter 47 - the confrontation

Arthur was brought to Claire's private office at corporate headquarters. He struggled, his eyes blazing with ultimate indignation as he faced the queen sitting majestically behind the mahogany desk. Leo and Max stood on both sides, protecting their mother.

"You evil old hag! You stole everything from me and my mother! You lived in luxury while I had to grow up at the bottom of society!" Arthur screamed, venting all the resentment that had built up in his soul for twenty grueling years.

Claire wasn't angry. She looked at the young man with a gaze mixed with pity. She tossed a stack of documents onto the desk. "These are the bank statements I sent to your mother, Jessica, fifteen years ago."

Arthur stared at the numbers in sheer astonishment. It was a massive sum of money, enough for the mother and son to live prosperously for the rest of their lives.

"Your mother blew all that money on casinos and terrible men," Claire coldly stated the truth. "She planted hatred in your head to cover up her own pathetic failures."
