Chapter 48 - the forgiveness

Leo stepped forward, looking at his broken half-brother. He held no hatred. "You have outstanding talent, Arthur. You could have used it to change the world, instead of destroying it over a lie."

Claire stood up, walking right in front of Arthur. The evidence she held was enough to send him to federal prison for decades on charges of treason and financial terrorism. He was ready to face the most brutal punishment.

"I could destroy your life right now," Claire said, her voice deep and warm but full of authority. "But this cycle of hatred must end. I will not become a monster like your father and mother."

Claire handed Arthur a contract. "I will wipe away all charges. In exchange, you must leave this country and join the charity foundation's project building clean water systems in Africa. Use your brain to save lives."

Arthur sobbed loudly, tears of remorse rolling down his cheeks. He took the pen and signed the contract with trembling hands. Claire's immense tolerance had shattered all the darkness, reviving a lost soul.
