Chapter 12 - the purge
Leaving Elena's room, Dante immediately convened an emergency meeting with all his subordinate bosses in the underground council room. An atmosphere of stifling and extreme tension enveloped the massive room.
The most hardened men of the underworld all kept their heads down; no one dared to look directly into the boss's eyes, which were as black as an abyss. Camilla's treason had dealt a heavy blow to the gang's prestige.
"Over the past five years, there are people sitting here who knew about that basement but chose to remain silent," Dante gritted out every word, his voice as cold and sharp as an invisible blade slicing the throats of those present.
He tossed a stack of documents onto the table. It was a list of Camilla's key henchmen, the ones who had aided her in imprisoning Elena and manipulating the family's cash flow to serve her filthy personal interests.
"The rule of this family is very simple: Absolute loyalty," Dante declared firmly. "Anyone named on this list will be stripped of all power, exiled from the East Coast, and if they dare return, they will die."
