Chapter 37 - the final verdict

Realizing his miserable defeat, Marcus slammed on the gas to flee, but his car was immediately T-boned by an armored SUV and flipped over. As he staggered and crawled out of the car, the dark barrel of a gun pointed straight at his head.

Dante stepped forward, his eyes as cold as ice. Behind him, Ivy stood with her arms crossed, her demeanor as majestic as her father's.

"You made the exact same mistake as the ones before you," Dante's deep voice drove every word like a nail into the silent space. "You thought my daughter's humanity was weakness. You were wrong."

Trembling, Marcus dropped to his knees on the asphalt, begging for forgiveness. He promised to hand over all his assets and surrender all his shares. But Dante shook his head. The underworld never accepts leniency for an enemy.

However, Ivy stepped forward and placed a hand on her father's shoulder. "We are not murderers, Dad. Let the law punish him. The documents I have are enough for him to rot in federal prison."
