Chapter 42 - the setup

At six in the morning, a squad of heavily armed federal agents stormed Ivy and Lucas's suburban home. They bypassed the standard security protocols, brandishing a federal arrest warrant.

Lucas, still in his sleepwear, was aggressively pinned against the wall and handcuffed in front of his terrified five-year-old son, Leo. Ivy stood in the hallway, her heart pounding with a familiar, chilling dread, but her mind remained incredibly sharp.

"You are making a catastrophic mistake," Ivy warned the lead agent, her voice perfectly steady, echoing the dangerous authority her father used to command. "My husband saves lives. He doesn't fund terrorism."

"We traced thirty million dollars from his personal encrypted laptop directly to a paramilitary faction in Eastern Europe, Dr. Pascale," the agent replied coldly, dragging Lucas out the front door. "The evidence is ironclad."

Ivy watched the black SUVs speed away. She didn't cry or panic. She immediately called Marcus, who was now running a private global intelligence firm. The enemy had severely underestimated the daughter of Dante Pascale.
