Chapter 55 - the masterstroke

"What did you do?!" Silas shrieked, frantically tapping the screen of his tablet as his billion-dollar extortion empire disintegrated into digital ash before his very eyes.
"While you were busy focusing on my husband, I bought out your own lead programmers," Ivy stated coldly. "They provided the backdoor access. Every piece of fabricated evidence against Lucas has been permanently erased from the federal database."
The four mercenaries flanking Silas immediately lowered their weapons. Ivy had wired ten times their standard fee into their private accounts an hour before the meeting. Their loyalty belonged strictly to the highest bidder.
"You're just like your father! A ruthless monster!" Silas screamed in sheer, pathetic panic, pulling a hidden handgun from his jacket and aiming it directly at Ivy’s chest.
Before Silas could pull the trigger, a massive, incredibly fast shadow dropped from the upper catwalk. It was a 140-pound black dog—Argo's direct descendant—bred for absolute loyalty and lethal protection.
